Name: Rogers Mansion ("Gabriola")
Author: Architect: Samuel Maclure
Created: c. 1901
Description: Gabriola, at Davie and Nicola in the West End, was perhaps the grandest of early Vancouver's grand mansions. Built in 1900-1901 for Benjamin Tingley Rogers, the founder of BC Sugar, it was designed by Samuel Maclure.
The impressive stained glass windows were designed by the brothers James and Charles Bloomfield. See also BLOOMFIELD HOUSE AND STUDIO, Vancouver.
Saved from demolition and rehabilitated in the mid-1970s by the restauranteur Hy Aisenstadt, it has since been a series of restaurants.
